In Farranlea hall the staff is very friendly and took care of all my concerns and needs.
When I came here I have difficulties to communicate because of the language but they have patience for listening and when I have a problem they fixed it very fast.

Our class took a trip from the U.S. to Ireland, and while staying in Cork UCC graciously housed our group of 30 students in Farranlea Hall. The staff there was so helpful and friendly, as well as other students living there. The accommodations were wonderful, having our own bathroom and bedroom with a kitchen to share – it was fantastic!

Hi, my name is Abdul Jalil and I was staying in Farranlea Hall for nearly one year. I can say that it is a very nice place to stay and every thing is perfect and it is very safe and comfortable. They have all the sufficient things which you need, for instance having wifi in your apartment was excellent. The most important thing is that with the staff you feel with them as if you are living with your family, they are very friendly and helpful any time and any day. I advise any one who wants to stay in Cork to stay in Farranlea Hall. There is no doubt that it is the best accommodation in Cork city, you will believe that when you stay there.

Great Student Accommodation. Any problems are fixed within a few days after notifying Reception.

All Rooms are quite spacey for college accommodation even with a desk (Desk Lamp included) Wardrobe, Mirror, Shelves and of course the bed (with drawers underneath it) in each room.
There are double and single bed rooms available.
All beds have mattress protectors but the rest of the bedding is required.

Each room is somewhat soundproof. Not 100% but above average from other accommodations.
They all have en-suites, with constant hot water available.

The Kitchens/Living Room are well furnished with table and chairs and sofa, along with a TV.
Utensils are provided, such as set of knives, forks, spoons and other equipment etc. Cups/Glasses,Pots and Pans are all provided also. The oven and hob are electric and heat quite fast and have an extractor fan, for smoke/Steam. A Microwave, Toaster and Kettle are also included in each kitchen. There is a Large Fridge and Freezer in each kitchen also.

Each apartment has its own Wi-Fi which is fairly fast and you can also apply for wired connection from reception, as each room has an Ethernet Sockets.

The door to the apartment is key card access, to whom you, your roommates and reception/wardens have the keycard for. The door also has a deadbolt so you needn’t worry about the locking the door as you leave.
The door to your room in the apartment is lock and key, meaning you can leave it open or locked depending on your preference. Only You and Reception/Wardens have the key to access the room.
As for the accommodation as a whole, it is split into blocks that requires key card access which all residents key cards do.

Each apartment is fitted with a phone that allows calls to other apartments, wardens, reception and the emergency services. It also acts as a Intercom to people outside the apartment block. Great for when you lose your card :)

There’s underground car parking for those with cars, which is secure and safe!

Various Bins/Skips are around the back of the apartment for apartment rubbish and are collected regularly.

Reception is open from 9:00 to 6:00 Mon to Friday and it’s where you collect your post and place any issue or queries.

Wardens are on call at night during weekdays as well as all day weekends. They are sound people but they will do their job if needs be… and will also call police if there is no compliance. ( So don’t let it come to that stage and they’ll be no issue! )

As for roommates… you can varying amounts depending on the size of the apartment, but usually first years are put together, 2nd to 3rd/Final Year together. Medicine together and Mature students together.

Accommodation is only 10-15 min walk to main campus UCC. Bus routes to Cork City, The Train Station and CIT are all outside or nearby the accommodation.

Overall it is a really good accommodation for any year in college. 5 Stars.
