The Spires Frequently Asked Questions

What are Reception opening hours?

Reception is open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. Our telephone number is +353 21 4525952 or dial 100 from the internal apartment phones.

Is there security on site?

Yes, we have residential wardens that are on call from 6pm to 9am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday as well as every Bank Holiday. You can phone the Wardens on +353 21 4310157 or call in person to their apartment located behind our main gates.

Is there car parking?

Yes, we have a limited number of secure parking spaces available. Please contact reception for details.

How far is UCC?

It is a 5 minute walk to the main campus.

Is there a shop nearby?

Yes, there is a Centra shop located only a 2 minute walk up the road.

Is Smoking allowed?

No, smoking is forbidden within our 2 complex buildings and all rooms are fitted with smoke detectors.

Where can I put my bike?

All bicycles can be locked on bicycle racks located in our secure gated car park.

Are credit card payments accepted?

No. The methods of payment that we accept are cheque, bank transfer or cash paid at reception only.

How do we get to The Spires from the bus or train station?

You have two options
a) You can get a Taxi direct costing approximately €15.00.
b) You can walk to Patrick Street from either station and get the No. 216 bus which stops outside our complex on Bandon Road. The No. 214 bus also stops very close by on Lough Road.

How do we get to The Spires from the airport?

You have two options
a) You can get a Taxi direct costing approximately €20.00.
b) You can get a bus into the city centre for approximately €6.00 and then the No. 214 or No. 216 from Grand Parade to The Spires for approximately €2.40.

What If I vacate my room early?

The booking/security deposit will not be refunded if a student leaves before the period of residence is complete. Rent and Utilities payments will only be refunded if and from when the room is re-let.

Can I deduct booking deposit from rent payment?

No, the deposit and rent are two separate payments.

What is the size of a single bed?

W: 90cm, L: 190cm.

What is the size of a double bed?

W: 140cm, L: 190cm.

Is there a TV in the apartment?

There is a Smart TV in the living room. There are TV sockets in all bedrooms so you can have your own TV.

Do I have my own bathroom?

Yes, every bedroom at The Spires has it’s own en-suite. Only the kitchen and living area are shared amongst the residents of each apartment.
