Overview
Sheares Gate is an exclusive 25 house gated development explicitly designed for older students and Postgraduates who wish to study in a relaxed and peaceful environment. Our complex was constructed in 2007 and is furnished to the highest standard. Sheares Gate has become so popular with UCC Graduate Entry Medicine students that it has featured in UCC’s promotional video of the GEM programme. Please click HERE to view this video on YouTube.
There are 2, 3 and 4 bedroom student houses available, all with high speed wireless broadband access, a kitchen/dining room, a living/TV room, a private patio garden and all bedrooms have their own bathroom.

Each Apartment Comprises of:
Bedrooms
All bedrooms are single occupancy and are fully furnished with a large double bed, bedside lockers, sizeable built in storage units, study desk and all have their own separate bathroom. Each house is fitted with an alarm system, has high speed wireless broadband access and there are separate keys for main door and bedroom access. Residents are asked to provide their own bed linen, duvet, pillows and towels.
Kitchen / Living Room
Each house has a fully fitted kitchen consisting of a table & chairs, an electric hob/oven, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, a fridge freezer, a washing machine / dryer, attractive built in units, delph & cutlery, an iron & board, a bucket & mop, a brush, a dust pan & hand brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Living Area
There is a separate living/TV room containing seats and a couch, built in shelving and a TV with remote control. Off the living/TV room in each house are double doors leading out to a private patio garden.
The guest toilet is located in the downstairs hallway and there is also some under stairs storage space.

Booking Deposit: €300.00
Double Bed Room Rent (50 Weeks): €11,255.00
Utilities Advance: €950.00
Current Residents – Rebooking and Cancellations
Current Residents will be advised by email of their opportunity to rebook for the following year 2 weeks prior to bookings becoming open to non-Residents. Residents are advised to rebook early in order to avoid disappointment. In the event of a cancellation on or before 30th June 2025, €150.00 of the booking deposit is refundable. There will be no booking deposit refund for cancellations made after 30th June 2025. All cancellations must be made in writing or by email.
New Residents – Cancellations

Is there a Reception?
We do not have a Reception on site, however our head office is only a 10 minute walk away at Farranlea Hall, Victoria Cross and we can be contacted on +353 21 4345497 or at sheares@collegeaccommodationcork.ie.
Is there security on site?
We do not have any nightly/weekend Security Warden on site however there is CCTV throughout the complex and each house is fitted with an intruder alarm.
Is there parking?
Yes, we have parking at no extra cost. Please contact sheares@cacork.ie for details.
How far is UCC?
Sheares Gate is within a 10 minute walk of UCC main campus, Cork University Hospital and the Cork University Dental School and Hospital.
Is there a shop nearby?
Yes, Wilton Shopping Centre is less than a 10 minute walk away. There is also a Maxol Fuel Station even closer which has an excellent delicatessen.
Is there a bus stop nearby?
Yes, the No. 216 bus goes to and from the city every 30 minutes. The inbound bus stop for the city centre is located just outside our main gate.
Are credit card payments accepted?
No. The methods of payment that we accept are cheque, bank transfer or cash paid at our office only.
How do we get to Sheares gate from the airport?
You have two options
a) You can get a Taxi direct costing approximately €20.00.
b) You can get a bus into the city centre for approximately €6.00 to €9.00 and then the No. 216 bus to Sheares Gate on Glasheen Road (Flannerys Pub Stop) for approximately €3.00.
Can I deduct booking deposit from rent payment?
No, the deposit and rent are two separate payments.
What is the size of the double bed?
W: 140cm, L: 190cm.
Is there a TV in the house?
There is one smart TV in the living room. There are TV sockets in all bedrooms, so you can have your own TV.
