Overview

The Spires is an exclusive development explicitly designed for student life. All apartments are of superior design and all bedrooms are en-suite. Our complex is located at 51 Bandon Road, Cork City and is a 5 minute walk to UCC and a 15 minute walk to the city centre.

Students can choose to live in 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6-bed apartments subject to availability.

We also accept bookings for a single semester only at this complex subject to availability.

Each Apartment Comprises of:

Bedrooms

All bedrooms are fully furnished with a bed and mattress (single or double), a study desk, a desk chair, a desk lamp, bookshelves, sizeable built in storage units, notice boards and en-suite bathrooms. Each apartment is fitted with a secure fob system for entry and there is a separate key for bedroom access. Residents are asked to provide their own bed linen, duvet, pillows and towels.

Kitchen / Living Room

Each apartment has a fully fitted spacious kitchen/living room consisting of an electric hob/oven, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, a fridge freezer, attractive built in units, delph and cutlery, a vacuum cleaner, an iron and ironing board, a table and chairs, seats/couches, a coffee table and a Smart TV with remote control.

Pricing and Availability

Bookings for the Academic Year 2025/26 will not open until the summer of 2025. Please do not submit an online application until our bookings open.

Friday, 22nd August 2025 to Friday, 22nd May 2026

Rates per person

Booking Deposit: €300.00

Single Bed En-suite Room Rent: €7,836.00
or
Double Bed En-suite Room Rent: €8,234.00 (single occupancy bedroom)
or
Twin Bed in En-suite Room Rent: €5,405.00 (shared bedroom)

Utilities Advance: €900.00

Cancellations

In the event of a cancellation on or before 30th June 2025, €150.00 of the Booking Deposit is refundable. There will be no Booking Deposit refund for cancellations made after 30th June 2025 – all cancellations must be made in writing or by email.

Rebooking

Current Full Academic Year Residents will be advised by email of their opportunity to rebook for the following academic year 2 weeks prior to bookings becoming open to non-Residents. We advise all our Residents to rebook early in order to avoid disappointment.

Wednesday, 20th August 2025 to Wednesday, 31st December 2025

Single Bed En-suite Room Rent: €3,818.00

Double Bed En-suite Room Rent: €4,011.00 (single occupancy bedroom)

Cancellations

The Spires FAQs

What are Reception opening hours?

Reception is open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. Our telephone number is +353 21 4525952 or dial 100 from the internal apartment phones.

Is there security on site?

Yes, we have residential Security Wardens that are on call from 6pm to 9am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday as well as every Bank Holiday. You can phone the Wardens on +353 21 4310157 or call in person to their apartment located behind our main front gates.

Is there car parking?

Yes, we have a limited number of secure parking spaces available. Please contact Reception for details.

How far is it to UCC?

It is a 5 minute walk to the main campus.

Is there a shop nearby?

Yes, there is a Centra shop located only a 2 minute walk up the road.

Is smoking allowed?

No, smoking is forbidden within our 2 complex buildings and all rooms are fitted with smoke detectors.

Where can I put my bike?

All bicycles can be locked on bicycle racks located in our secure gated car park.

How do we get to the Spires from the bus or train station?

You have two options
a) You can get a Taxi direct costing approximately €15.00.
b) You can walk to Patrick Street from either station and get the No. 216 bus which stops outside our complex on Bandon Road. The No. 214 bus also stops very close by on Lough Road.

How do we get to the Spires from the airport?

You have two options
a) You can get a Taxi direct costing approximately €20.00.
b) You can get a bus into the city centre for approximately €6.00 and then the No. 214 or No. 216 from Grand Parade to The Spires for approximately €2.40.

What if I vacate my room early?

The booking/security deposit will not be refunded if a student leaves before the period of residence is complete. Rent and Utilities payments will only be refunded if and from when the room is re-let.

Can I deduct booking deposit from rent payment?

No, the deposit and rent are two separate payments.

What is the size of a single bed?

W: 90cm, L: 190cm.

What is the size of a double bed?

W: 140cm, L: 190cm.

Is there a TV in the apartment?

There is a Smart TV in the living room. There are TV sockets in all bedrooms so you can have your own TV.

Do I have my own bathroom?

Yes, every bedroom at The Spires has it’s own en-suite. Only the kitchen and living area are shared amongst the residents of each apartment.
